Goal of the role

Joop de Rooij (CCO): “This crucial role acts as a catalyst for the transformation of the commercial team and supports the team to realize customers wins and drive conversion.”

As Commercial Support Manager, you play a pivotal role as the program manager for the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing the pipeline management, monitoring, and providing support in the development of investment business cases, and proposals for business development initiatives.

How would you achieve those goals? By –

  • Managing the Commercial and Business Development pipeline
  • Challenging the team on progress, engagement strategies and overall providing valuable sales enablement to convert leads and secure customer wins
  • Monitoring customer feedback, track performance metrics, and identifying industry trends
  • Participating in customer meetings and supporting colleagues in preparing key meeting materials
  • Setting and maintaining standards for strategic initiatives and projects across the commercial team (e.g., business case development, expansion projects, customer commercial agreements)
  • Enabling the commercial team to operate at optimal efficiency and accurately report relevant metrics to the Executive Committee (ExCom) and Supervisory Board
  • Building and leveraging a strong understanding of the company’s product and services offerings

And as it is actively pursuing the diversification of the bulk commodities that it stores and handles, HES is realizing various groundbreaking projects:
  • Hydrogen: HES joined forces with Gasunie and Vopak to develop an import terminal for green ammonia as a hydrogen carrier in the port of Rotterdam (ACE)
  • Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS): HES is developing carbon capture projects, helping to reduce the environmental impact of industrial processes
  • Biofuels, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO): HES’ tank terminals are storing and handling these renewable alternatives to fossil fuels, empowering a greener future for transportation

Who are you?

To be successful, you are likely an experienced professional with the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a B2B sales (enablement) environment
  • Preferably, knowledge of the bulk storage and handling industry (e.g., dry bulk goods, terminals, port-related logistics)
  • Experience in a project or program management role in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field
  • Proficient in English. Additional proficiency in Dutch, German, or French, is a plus
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, with a focus on advanced data analytics using Excel or similar tools
