Wrist Ship Supply: one-stop supply for all ship supplies, including ship provisions, bonded stores, cabin stores, deck and engine stores. Wrist delivers supplies to ships and vessels all around the globe efficiently and conveniently. Wrist also offers consolidated orders, where provisions and stores are delivered together, reducing logistics costs and CO2 emissions.

Wrist Marine Logistics: the logistic branch of the wider Wrist group, providing a world-leading service which includes forwarding of ship spare parts, end-to-end solutions, and project cargo; the coordination of complex operations involving out of gauge shipment of larger parts. Wrist marine logistics services are often combined with the supply of stores and provisions from Wrist. These consolidated deliveries lower costs and reduce C02 emissions.

Maritime Services: Garrets International (part of Wrist) offers provisions and stores management, training and support services, including nutrition guidance and stock and supply management. Garrets handles ship supplies, including scheduling, stock control and waste management, ensuring a crew always has food on their plates and the right tools at hand – while staying within budget.

Offshore Supply: Strachans, part of Wrist, is the leading provider of Food & Catering Consumables to the UK Energy Industry with more than 80 years of experience, and thus a full understanding of the needs and requirements of deliveries to harsh environments.

Purpose of the Role –

The Director of Ship Supply is a senior management position in the Dutch organisation of Wrist, part of the management team and reporting directly to the Country Managing Director Netherlands. The Director is primarily responsible for the Ship Supply sales and operations, managing a team of 7 directly / 80 indirectly. The incumbent will play a key role in formulating and executing the ‘Go to Market’ strategy to meet the business goals and objectives. Making sure day-to-day operational and commercial services remain at the higher end of the market requested level, gain market share, initiate processes to optimize operations and commerce, develop people and help retain talent. The Director will play an important role in the digitalization of Wrist and its move towards an e-commerce business model, the ambition of Wrist is to become an “Amazon at sea.”

The role will be based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Job Requirements –

  • Minimum Bachelor-level within commercial, supply chain or logistics disciplines
  • 8+ years of leadership experience in the supply chain, logistics or maritime industry
  • A proven track record of operational and commercial excellence with successfully implemented turnarounds, improvements and/or expansion programs; strong persuasive (selling) skills; feels comfortable to represent the company at board and C-level
  • Most importantly the jobholder is required to have a hands-on working mentality, meaning that the Director should be closely involved with daily practices
  • The jobholder should have a lot of experience in coaching and supervising people, meaning that leadership skills are mandatory
  • Excellent knowledge of business administration practices
  • Strong organizational and people management skills, leading by example
  • You should be a Native Dutch and fluent in English
  • Data-driven, strong experience with different (ERP) systems, system transition experience is a plus

Key Accountabilities –

  • Ultimate responsibility for Commerce and Operations
  • Direct operational reports are a warehouse manager and team lead of the planning department
  • Direct commercial reports are the commercial head of stores, head of provisions and the manager of the boarding representatives department
  • Lead the Ship Supply commercial and operational organization in The Netherlands according to the agreed strategy
  • Meet Key Performance targets
  • Satisfactory and profitable service of customers
  • Develop and manage a competent team while leading change management with new employees being integrated into Wrist
  • Meet (and exceed) goals and metrics established through the budget process, and allocate resources appropriate
